After some messing around and searching, I found a suitable SAE pitch gear that associated makes, and quite incidentally, it has three molded holes that were almost a perfect match to the 120 degree bolt pattern on the slipper! Decided to do an 'end around', time to change the stock spur gear. I checked into my gearing and drive supplier catalog but couldn't find an easy way to adapt a metric gear to the Novak motor shaft (or any standard 540 motor shaft for that matter).
#TRAXXAS REVO 3.3 ELECTRIC CONVERSION KIT MOD#
The stock gearing (like all nitro cars/trucks from my understanding) was metric to begin with, for any of you true gearheads, all the stock stuff is Mod 1 Metric teeth. Since I have a small machine shop (2 cnc mills and a cnc lathe), I set out to build a BOLT ON KIT that could be sold for less than 100 dollars in a retail setting, that would allow for a brushless drop in conversion.

There didn't seem to be a cheap and easy way to do the conversion from an existing 'kit', everything involved cutting the chassis frame, buying another gear box, etc. I explored the work that had been done out there, the gorillamax setup is gorgeous but I didn't really want to drop that much bling and buck into something that I was going to incessantly beat on and drive through the mud. OS18 at 240 bucks and keep buying new engines as they go, or Since I get enough nitro burn action and engine fiddling with my helis, I wanted to rebuild it as something that was more of a charge and go basher, I had a choice to make. So I love my Revo, and when the original traxxas engine finally started to go, I was considering options.
